One of the things we enjoy most about working in specialty medicine is getting to know our patients and their families. We take great pride in helping everyone understand all aspects of what their pet is experiencing as well as the recommended course of treatment. Every family is unique, and therefore all decisions regarding your pet’s care are personal and may involve many factors. We’ll answer all of your questions and help guide you every step of the way. That’s our ultimate goal, to ensure you receive whatever you need to make a decision that is right for your pet.
Specialized medicine is our specialty. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has now recognized 20 different specialties in which veterinarians can pursue additional training and ultimately receive Diplomate status, also known as Board-Certified. Here at VCA MidWest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center our entire team is highly trained in their respective specialty, making us the very best resource to work alongside your pet’s primary care veterinarian when advanced medicine is recommended.
Our hospital is truly state-of-the-art, designed to facilitate the delivery of optimum care. We have three dedicated surgical suites, a sterile pack and prep area, a quiet and comfortable recovery room, radiology and diagnostic imaging wing, large treatment area and an intensive care unit. Supportive services like our laboratory and dispensing pharmacy are within immediate reach. Most importantly, as a specialty hospital, we provide the best possible care before, during and after a procedure where all hospitalized patients receive continuous care and monitoring by a veterinarian.
We have Emergency and Critical Care Departments in addition to our specialty referral services. Our emergency department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and all major holidays to ensure care is always available.
