Our hospital offers many general surgery services that include a variety of common and elective procedures performed under general anesthesia.
Examples of common surgeries include spay (ovariohysterectomy), neuter/castration (orchiectomy), lump removal and biopsy, laceration repair, abscess and wound repair, abdominal exploratory surgery, removal of gastrointestinal foreign bodies, enucleation (eye removal), cystotomy (for removal of bladder stones), and skin biopsy. When a surgical procedure is anticipated to be more complicated, your VCA veterinarian will refer you to one of the local board-certified surgeons so that your pet may receive the most appropriate care.

Our staff of compassionate, caring professionals will monitor your pet before, during, and after surgery and will take exceptional care to ensure a safe and complete recovery for your pet. We will also address any questions or concerns you may have about surgery, including concerns about anesthesia, pain management, or postoperative care.
When your pet is ready to go home, we will review your postoperative care and medication instructions. If any questions arise after your pet returns home or at any other time during the postoperative period, please call us for assistance.
