Changes We’ve Made
Here at VCA Animal Care Center of Sonoma County, we are working hard to reduce our carbon and ecological footprint. We have implemented many actions, including changing to local, renewable electricity. We have also massively reduced our waste generation and usage, and we are transitioning away from single use disposable materials to renewable medical supplies. Long-term this will reduce emissions and pollution, improving the health of our team, our patients, local community, and environment. Watch for more information about the actions we have taken.
Partnering with Sonoma Clean Power
Our most impactful change to date is that we now obtain our electricity from EverGreen of Sonoma Clean Power, an ultra-low carbon, renewable, fossil-free, locally generated electricity source. Watch this video to learn more about our partnership with Sonoma Clean Power:

Meet Our Sustainability Team

  • The Sustainability Team

We here at VCA Animal Care Center of Sonoma County have formed a veterinary Sustainability or “Green” Team. This is the most important and first step in the process of transitioning a hospital (or any business) to more sustainable methods. Our team is multi-disciplinary, comprising all areas of our hospital including veterinarians, technicians, custodians, CSRs, and management. This affords an opportunity for all voices to be represented and involved and enhances collaboration of resources and ideas.

  • Team Members

  • Our Commitment

Our main objective is to ensure that we continue to provide optimal veterinary care for our patients while we transition to practicing sustainable veterinary medicine through readily implementable “greening” actions.
