Diagnosis and management of ear diseases
Our veterinary dermatologist routinely diagnoses and manages chronic and recurrent ear disease. Ear disease is present in approximately 30% of patients that present for dermatology problems and range from external and middle ear infections due to underlying allergy, ear mites, foreign bodies in the ear canal and ear canal/middle ear tumors. Ear disease is most commonly managed by identifying and controlling the underlying cause. This may involve deep ear evaluation using a video otoscope under general anesthesia, advanced imaging using cat scan, bacterial cultures, biopsy or allergy management.
