Astrid Beniquez Rodriguez

Originally from Puerto Rico, Astrid Beniquez Rodriquez, spent much of her childhood in South Florida. During this time, she gained valuable experience as a veterinary assistant and technician at a busy multi-location general practice and volunteered in urgent care practices, shelters, and local teaching hospitals.

A proud Gator, Dr. Beniquez (as she is more commonly known), earned her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology & Cell Sciences and her Master's in Veterinary Forensics from the University of Florida. After graduation, she moved to Tennessee to attend Lincoln Memorial University Richard A. Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine, where she graduated with high honors and received her doctorate of veterinary medicine as well as the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Clinical Excellence Award in Small Animal Medicine. After one year with the talented specialty, team at VCA RIVER in Chattanooga, TN, Dr. Beniquez joins our specialty service for a surgical internship.

Dr. Beniquez has a special interest in surgical oncology and a passion for geriatric care. She is fluent in English and Spanish and conversational in Italian. In her free time, she enjoys reading, trying new foods, playing guitar, and sketching. She shares her home with four happy, well-fed, and demanding cats, which makes her a perfect match for our VCA Hollywood team.
