Dr. Melissa Farquhar grew up in San Jose, CA, and later attended Colorado State University, where she received her B.S. in Zoology and minored in French Horn Performance. After Colorado State, she attended the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In addition to veterinary medicine, Dr. Farquhar studied public health and specialized in mosquito-borne diseases while working with the Midwest Center of Excellence for Vector-Borne Disease. She joined the VCA Lawrence team in June 2021 after completing an externship here in early 2021.
 
In Dr. Farquhar's free time, she enjoys playing the guitar, rock climbing, running, biking, and hiking. She shares her home with a Pitbull mix named Inky, a Chihuahua mix named Eevee, an orange tabby named Maple, and a seal point tabby named Aspen. Dr. Farquhar has special interests in neurology and infectious diseases. She enjoys helping people take care of their pets.
