Local Medical Issues

Oklahoma has many local dangers for our pets. Heartworms are one of the most important. They are a danger to dogs and cats. All it takes is a mosquito bite and your loved one can be infected. Even indoor only animals are at risk because the species of mosquito that carries heartworms are the ones likely to be in the house. Heartworms can be prevented easily by giving your dog, cat or ferret heartworm preventative every month. It is a year-round risk due to our temperate winters that don't kill the mosquito eggs or larvae.

Fleas and ticks are also a year-round risk here. Wild animals like deer, squirrels and rabbits carry them. These pests don't just cause discomfort to your pets but can also carry deadly disease like Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, which can cause human disease as well. A preventative can be applied monthly to help keep your pet safe.

American Animal Hospital Association

The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) sets the standard for quality veterinary care for companion animals. As an accredited hospital, we voluntarily uphold the Association's high standards in 18 different areas and are routinely evaluated on over 900 different standards of veterinary care. Not all animal hospitals are accredited, and we are proud to be amongst only 12-15% of veterinary hospitals that hold this honor.
