Dr. Karina Saiyad, originally from St. Clair, MI, was inspired to pursue a career in veterinary medicine by her grandfather, a dedicated veterinarian who fostered her early love for animals. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Michigan State University in May 2023.
Throughout her academic journey, Dr. Saiyad has shown a deep passion for veterinary medicine and education. She has been actively involved in research, teaching, and tutoring in various veterinary science subjects. Her particular interest in cardiology has taken her across the U.S., where she has pursued advanced knowledge in cardiovascular medicine.
In addition to her professional pursuits, Dr. Saiyad is a strong advocate for community service and leadership. She has volunteered extensively with underserved communities and played an active role in lobbying efforts at the White House, advocating for policies that benefit veterinary medicine and animal welfare.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Saiyad enjoys spending quality time with her husband and family, exploring new cultures through travel, and relaxing by the beach or in the mountains. Her travels to various countries have enriched her understanding of veterinary practices across global contexts. She shares her home with a beloved cat, a rescued companion who has brought much joy following the loss of her previous cat to kidney disease.
