Dr. Mark Helvie and his wife, Kimberly, moved to Dahlonega in 2000. Dr. Mark has been at VCA Dahlonega Animal Hospital since 2004 and is currently the Medical Director. Dr. Helvie also serves on the St. Luke's Parish Council and was on the Board for No One Alone Domestic Violence Shelter for 10 years. In his down time, you will usually find Dr. Helvie sitting at the kitchen table playing board games with his family and friends. Mark and Kim have five daughters and recently lost their daughter, Meng, at the age of 15 to cancer. In her memory, he supports the Georgia branch of Make A Wish Foundation. Also at home ...

Melissa is our hospital manager and an Elite Fear Free Certified Professional and Cat Friendly Advocate, who joined our team in 2016. 

When not at work, Melissa enjoys watching baseball (Go Braves!), volunteering, visiting museums and other historical sites with her husband, and watching The Office – which is where her cat, Creed, got his name.
