Dr. Gstrein grew up in Irvine, attending Woodbridge High School and Cal Poly Pomona. He worked as a zoo keeper at the OC Zoo prior to attending veterinary school at Midwestern University in Arizona. Outside of the veterinary field he enjoys keeping up with current events by listening to NPR, reading historical fiction, science fiction novels, and comic books. He likes to stay active by rock climbing, playing in amateur sport leagues, racquetball and swimming.

Having deep roots in Orange County, Dr. Gstrein has always wanted to work as a veterinarian in southern California. Of particular interest is a passion for conservation and forensic veterinary medicine.
