Our hospital offers pets cutting edge procedures, such as stem cell treatments. As highlighted on Channel 2 News several years ago, our medical director Dr. Ellen Leonhardt performed the first completely in hospital Stem Cell Treatment in New York State and has continued to do so, drawing clients form all over the tri state area ever since. The preserve also incorporates a 3,000-square-foot museum with displays about the ecology of Long Island, as well as animal exhibits and shows and interactive activities for children. The Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center was established in 1923 as the country’s first National Audubon Society songbird sanctuary. Theodore Roosevelt’s gravesite sits at the edge of the sanctuary property. Our 14 acres boast extensive native plant demonstration gardens, several small ponds, a mile of hiking trails, and our famous Bessie Potter Vonnoh fountain sculpture.
