Dr. Luisa Velasquez grew up in Tulsa, OK. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Tulsa in 2009 and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Oklahoma State University in 2014. She worked at a small animal clinic that focused on preventative care in Owasso for 8 years before deciding to transfer to VCA Woodland Central Animal Hospital. In addition to preventative care, she enjoys parasitology, soft tissue surgery and dentistry.
Dr. Velasquez has always enjoyed science and being around animals. Growing up her family had dogs. She and her husband currently have two pet cats named Tico and Scrimp. Dr. Velasquez is a second-generation US citizen—her family is originally from Colombia and she is fluent in Spanish. Dr. Velasquez enjoys crafting, gardening, and being active during her time off.
