Dr. Poorman grew up in Southern California. Her love of animals started at a young age and she knew very early on she wanted to become a veterinarian when she grew up. Dr. Poorman completed a BS in Animal Science at North Carolina State University and initially worked as a veterinary technician in Connecticut. She then obtained her DVM degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her final clinical year at University of Minnesota. After marrying her sports loving midwestern husband, she began her career in the Tidewater area of Virginia. Missing North Carolina drew her to make a move back to the Charlotte area. Dr. Poorman's specific areas of interest include internal medicine and preventive health care. When not at work, she and her husband do their best to keep up with their two young sons. They also share their home with a Parson Russell Terrier Mix named Millie and a cockatiel named George. Dr. Poorman is a huge pro football fan and can be heard cheering loudly for the J. E. T. S. JETS JETS JETS!!
