Dr. Knighton obtained her degree from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2014. Prior to VCA, Dr. Knighton practiced in a high-volume, small animal general private practice just outside of Nashville, Tennessee. She and her family relocated to Louisville in December 2018 and began practicing at VCA Shelden in March 2019. Dr. Knighton became Medical Director of VCA Shelden in 2020. Dr. Knighton has enjoyed developing her fear free skills and continues to develop new and lasting relationships with clients and their pets!

She strives to enrich team mentality, promote a positive work place environment, and continues to practice high quality medicine. Dr. Knighton's medical interests are soft tissue surgery, ultrasound, preventative wellness care/early disease detection, and internal medicine. She is currently a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, AAHA, and is Fear Free Elite Certified.

In her free time, Dr. Knighton enjoys spending quality outdoor time with her family, Tom, Miles, James, and dog Tony. They also enjoy traveling back home to Michigan to spend time on the lake with family and friends!
