Dr. Wiley Archibald grew up in northern California, but has since lived all over the country. After receiving his Bachelor's degree from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, he returned to California to pursue a Master's of Science in Biology from Cal Poly Humboldt where he studied harbor seals in Humboldt Bay. Following school, he continued to work with marine mammals and penguins, spending three years traveling between Antarctica and Alaska before pivoting into veterinary medicine. Dr. Archibald received his veterinary degree in 2023 from The Ohio State University before returning once again to California for a small animal medicine and surgery internship at VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center.
Dr. Archibald enjoys the human-animal aspect of veterinary medicine, but also has a special place for wildlife medicine. He is an active volunteer with both the Oiled Wildlife Care Network and the California Veterinary Emergency Team. In the hospital, he enjoys helping families care for their animals and aiding in navigating the difficult situations they are facing. He takes special interest in working with owners to find the best solution for their family.
Outside of work, Dr. Archibald loves traveling and exploring new places, as well as relaxing in the backyard with his wife, two cats, and golden retriever.
