Dr. Hughes Sanders grew up in the small town of Tabor City, North Carolina. His love for animals was apparent early on as he owned a menagerie of pets including rabbits, doves, and a tarantula. Dr. Sanders earned his B.S. in Biology and Psychology from Warren Wilson College, an M.S. in Biology from NYU, and graduated from veterinary school at Western University of Health Sciences. After completion of veterinary school, he underwent a one-year surgical and medical internship at California Animal Hospital and has decided to make Los Angeles his home. His areas of special interest include emergency/critical care, dermatology, dentistry, and soft tissue surgery. In his spare time Dr. Sanders enjoys reading, hiking, biking, and spending time with his dog, Saroo.
