Dr. Powell grew up in California. She completed her bachelor's degree in Biology at San Jose State University. After several years working in the human medical field, including a stint as a deputy coroner in Reno, NV, she returned to school and completed a PhD in Reproductive Physiology, with a minor in Veterinary Medicine at Oregon State University. She then made the cross-country trek to Ohio State University Veterinary School graduating in 2003. Since completing a one-year internship in medicine and surgery in 2004, she has worked in private practice and shelter medicine in California and Washington.

Dr. Powell enjoys working with owners and their pets to make the best decisions for the health of their pets and strengthen the human animal bond. She has a special interest in nutrition, spay/neuter surgeries, and dentistry. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, crafting and, most of all, bowling. She shares her home with three cats and two dogs who keep life interesting.
