Dr. Schlesinger received his bachelor of science in zoology at the University of Calgary in 1985. He obtained his doctor of veterinary medicine degree with distinction from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. He completed his masters of veterinary science from the University of Saskatchewan in 1992 and then became a diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Small Animal in 1994. Dr. Schlesinger has been with the C.A.R.E. Centre since it opened in 2006. His areas of interest and expertise are gastroenterology, immunology, oncology, endocrinology, urology and respiratory medicine.

In his free time, as a busy father of 3 hockey playing boys, he enjoys playing hockey as well as being an assistant hockey coach. He also shares his home with an English Springer spaniel named George.
