Originally from Jacksonville, FL, Dr. Laurna Canty earned her undergraduate degree and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida. Go Gators! Dr. Canty graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Nutritional Science in 2017 and her DVM degree in 2021. 

She has always loved working with and caring for animals, including her rescue cat, Alyx. Dr. Canty began her journey in the veterinary field in 2015 while pursuing her undergraduate degree. During that time, she worked as a veterinary technician and developed her passion for strengthening the human-animal bond by caring for pets and their owners.

Dr. Canty is Fear Free Certified and believes in making your pet's trip to the veterinarian as pleasant as possible. Her professional interests include fear free medicine, dentistry, nutrition, dermatology, and integrative medicine. Dr. Canty enjoys taking the time to learn and expand her knowledge base to allow her to offer the best care of her patients.

Outside of work, Dr. Canty enjoys spending her time walking the beach, learning how to garden, sewing, and even knitting on occasion. As a newcomer to the area, she enjoys finding all the great food and beautiful scenery Savannah has to offer. Dr. Canty is looking forward to bringing her knowledge to Savannah and providing a positive experience for pets and pet parents visiting VCA!
