Dr. Horwitz grew up in Orange County, California. Even from a young age, she loved animals, especially reptiles.

After completing her degree in Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz , she spent a year interning at the Oklahoma City Zoo. Dr. Horwitz received a B.A in Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She received her D.V.M from Midwestern University. She recently completed a one-year internship with Arizonia Exotic Animal hospital, the largest exotic animal hospital in the United States. She is currently working towards completing her board certification to specialize in reptiles and amphibian medicine.

She shares her home with two bearded dragons, one blue tongue skink, a green tree monitor, a tegu, and three cats. If she is not playing with one of her furry or scaly friends, you can find her hiking, cooking or going to hockey games, GO DUCKS!!
